The information I have is that Jorg Dieter, born June 7 1699 in Schwaigern, Germany married Maria Magaretha Luttman on Dec 19, 1720 in Schwaigern, Germany. Maria was born June 1 1701 in Schwaigern. They came to America in 1729 aboard the "Allen", landing in Philidelphia, PA on September 16 1729. Jorg signed an oath of alligence to America in Pennsylvania.
I have their son John George Dieter listed as being born March 9 1739 in Orange Co, Virgina. John married Sarah Pearis/Phares/Paris who was the daughter of Capt. Richard Pearis who founded the town of Greenville South Carolina. The Pearis family also used multiple spellings and is a very interesting family. Captain Richard Pearis fought for the British during the Revolutionary War. He had two wives, the first was a Cherokee woman and the second was his "european" wife. Sarah was the daughter of the european wife, not the cherokee wife.Apparently the Cherokee line used one spelling and the European line used another spelling, or so I've read in other postings.
You are probably finding different spellings for Dieter, including Teater and Teeter. I was told this was because people recording names wrote what they heard, and Jorg, speaking with a heavy German accent probably sounded like he was saying "Teeter" and so that is how the name got changed.
I have information on some descendants of John Dieter/Teeter and Sarah Pearis/Paris/Phares that I can send you. I have to search through my notes and computer files. Please let me know if you want them. My line of Teeters went from South Carolina to Kentucky to Iowa. My Great Grandmother was Pearl Ann Teeter who married Alpheus Willis Clark in the late 1880's.
Hope this helps....
Joyce
