Dubendorffer/Diefenderfer/Diffendaffer line-date change

I have hit a brick wall with this one ancester. His name is George Diffendaffer. He was born sometime in the late 1780's to early 1790's in Pennsylvania. He married Christina Armantrout/Ermentraudt on March 03, 1815 in Warren County, Ohio. According to the family stories he is either a son of either Alexander Diefenderfer or his brother John Michael Dubendorffer. Or, he could be a grandson of to one of them. Whoever his father is we are fairly sure that George changed the spelling of his last name when he left Pennsylvania. Does anyone have a missing George in their family tree that could be my George? I have a list of Alexander and John Michael's descendances and have found a few George's that have no other information with the name. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
