Well, I am a descendant of Alexander buried in Mt. Salem Cemetery in Deer Ridge, MO. I don't believe Deer Ridge really exists and you can find it via Monticello, MO. Wow, I don't know where to begin here. My father's grandparents were Diffendaffer's that lived there. Can you provide specific names and I will pulse my father for more information? I don't believe an Diffendaffers stayed in the area. But, I do believe you're correct in that it definitely is German, and it would not surprise me if they came from the same area as the Maurer/Mason families. Another surprise for me too. My last name was changed from Maurer to Mason in the 1700's. I lived and worked in Kansas for 25 years prior to following my job here to MO, and when I look at the names that migrated, there are many Mennonites. I knew quite a few while back there. Everyone seemed to have left that part of Europe at the end of the 30 year war and were looking for religious freedom. It's all so interesting. Have you been back to see where Alexander settled?
