My Father, Alfred Digins, Son of Francis Diggins , son of Bill Diggins, brother of Frank , who emmigrated to The Dakotas from Waterford Ireland, always said that the name Diggins was an anglinization of the latin " Deos Genus". This, he said, could be translated as either " The Sons Of God" or " God's Balls".

I personally have no opinion except to say that every Diggins that I have ever met fell somewhere betheen the two. I personally bet on "Black head".
