According to my father, a DiGiacomo whose parents settled in North Phila., there were at least five branches of DiGiacomos in North Phila in and around the 1930s. None of them, as far as we know, are related to each other, but here's the info:
-Joseph DiGiacomo (I guess your relative) lived at 24th Street
-Louis and Ambrose DiGiacomo lived somewhere somwhere around Indiana and Clearfield Avenues in the 2100 block
-Edward DiGiacomo lived on the 2800 block of Clearfield
-There was a family of DiGiacomos (whose names my dad couldn't remember) at the 2900 block of Clementine Street
-Pasqua and Pasquale DiGiacomo (my grandparents) lived at 23rd and Clearfield

According to my dad these families weren't related, but at least it gives you some references.
