Kitty in Long Island WWII

I'm trying to find a link to Kitty Kignan, who lived in New and was married to Marty Murtha. It's not clear how she is related to us, but my mother believes that she was her great aunt. I met Annie Dignan on a trip to Ireland back in the 80's while my grandparents were still alive and never took notes on how we were related, believing I had lots of time to ask Grandma later.... sigh!
My Mom remembers visits to Kitty's house and that she lived near the beach, possibly in a town called Edgewater on Long Island. She says that she took a bus to Throggs Neck and then walked to the house from there during World War II. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Thanks in advance for any help.
