My grandfather's name was Domenico DiGuiseppi; he was from the Marche or the Abruzzi region of Italy (Bisenti, Italy?). He married my maternal grandmother in 1919 in Hershey, PA, had a girl in 1921, but he applied for a divorce only 4 years later when my mother was born. My grandmother always told us he left on a train one day for work, but never returned. We only found these divorce application papers about 5 years ago in 1997. He supposedly had a brother that lived in Kennett Square, PA, which is where he allegedly went after leaving Hershey.
I found his name on the Lusitania ship's manifest as arriving June 28,1913 at the age of 16; at the time of his immigration to the US, his brother was listed as residing in South Phila. His last name was spelled as DiGuiseppe on the Ship's manifest.
We suspect he may have married again, but do not know for sure. He wrote to my mother in 1961 from Italy for her to sponsor him, but because of possible repercussions with family, she didn't respond. Any communication from relatives of any DiGuiseppi's in or around the Kennett Square or Phila area would be helpful.
