Article from Fair Play, Mo. Newspaper. 1968

"Mrs. Alice Dihel to Note Birthday Hundred and One"

Mrs. Alice Dihel, a long time resident of Fair Play will become one hundred and one on Saturday, October 28.
A small family dinner honoring Mrs. Dihel will include a sister, Mrs. Betty Sprague, who lives nearby.
Health wise, her condition has been "satisfactory". However, she suffered a broken leg in mid-summer and was hospitalized several weeks, and has returned home, apparently unaffected by the mishap.
Born on a farm in 1866 between Springfield and Walnut Grove, she was married to Joe Dihel at the age of 21. While living in Texas, Mr. Dihel passed away in 1903, and Mrs. Dihel returned to Missouri and has since made her home in Fair Play. Residing here, are two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Pickering and Mrs. Sophronia Grant. She has a son, Homer, who lives in Yuba City, Calif.
Descendents of Mrs. Dihel include 12 grandchildren, 20 great grand children and 7 great great grand children.
