I think that Charlotte was the daughter of Thomas DILKES and Ann MADDOCKS, but I've not yet worked out who Thomas's parents were.
Charlotte was buried in Newtown Linford churchyard, the inscription on her gravestone reading:
"In memory of
Charlotte Dilks
who departed this life
March 22nd 1798
in the 18 year of her age
Weep not dear Parents at my unhappy lot
My only Form endeavour to forget
A dearest Babe I have left behind
I trust my friends will never prove unkind."

Her illegitimate son, Henry Adams DILKES appears to have been born 13 March 1798 in Leicester, his baptism being recorded 19 March 1798 at St Margarets Church, Leicester and again on 25 March 1798 at Newtown Linford (the same day as his mother was buried). As you are no doubt aware, it was usual for unmarried mothers to give birth away from home (to avoid scandal?).

Also in Newtown Linford churchyard is the grave of Henry Adams, whose gravestone states " late keeper of Bradgate Park under three of the succeeding Earls of Stamford, in which capacity he served them faithfully upwards of sixty years. He departed this life April 27, 1847, aged 77 years." He is buried with his wife, his own son (also named Henry Adams) lies buried in the next grave.

Putting two and two together, I think it highly likely that Henry Adams DILKES was named after Henry ADAMS the gamekeeper. What do you think?

Incidentally, I'm related to the DILKS family of Thornton, who may/may not be related to the DILK(E)S of Newtown Linford.
