I have Dille ancestors in my maternal great-grandmother's line. In some of my grandmother's notes, she writes that John Dille (b. 1645) left Essex Co., MA, in 1664 and moved to Staten Island, NY. There he lived among the Huguenots and was a charter member of the Puritan colony that founded Woodbridge, NJ in 1669. Of further interest to me, his son John Dille, Jr., married a Ruth Taylor, whose ancestry can be traced back to William the Conqueror and beyond. John Jr.'s son David had seven sons who fought in the Revolutionary War.
