Please post the census data. For what it's worth, I was sent the following: "ELBRIDGE GAYLORD AND ELIZA JANE RIGGLE DILTS "Elbridge left home when he was 16 and joined the Cavalry to serve in the Civil War. (Enlistment record states he was 18.) He entered at Davonport, Iowa on 30 September 1864 into Company M, 5th Regiment, Iowa Cavalry and was mustered out on 17 June 1865 at Nashville , Tennessee. When he entered the cavalry his physical description was listed as follows: hazel eyes, brown hair, dark complexion and five foot five inches tall. On 5 February 1870 he married Eliza Jane Riggle at Marion County, Iowa. They were married by Wm. G. McElree who was married to Sarah J. Dilts, Elbridge's sister. They lived in Iowa for several years before moving to Missouri in late 1886 or early 1887. Nine children were born in Iowa. Lillian the fifth child died at the age of two weeks and I presume she is buried in Marion County, Iowa. Four more children were born to this union in Nodaway County, Missouri. All of the children married except Lucy who passed away following her 18th birthday and is buried at Graham, Missouri. The 22 of July, 1904, the day of Lucy's death was also a day of birth for Julia Dilts Linville's daughter. Elbridge asked Julia to name her Lucy in honor of his Lucy which Julia and Delta did. She is now Lucy Marie Linville Powell still living at the age of 87 in Washington, Kansas. After living in Missouri for twenty-five years, 1886 or 1887 to 1911, they came to Kansas, Lyon County to be near most of their children. Three years after arriving in Lyon County, Eliza Jane passed away and then four years later Elbridge passed away. They are both buried five miles southwest of Emporia. My father-in-law, Orville Harold Dilts, before he passed away told me he could remember the funeral of Elbridge. He remembered the casket being placed on a wagon, draped in black and pulled by mules to the cemetery. As the children married, all of them except Gaylord moved away from Missouri. Gaylord stayed at Skidmore which is located in Holt County, the county bordering Nodaway County on the west." Note 2.
