DiMarco name change

I dont know if there is any truth to this story...Could be more sicilian folklore.
Husband comes in from working in the fields early, finds wife in bed with another man. He shoots and kills wife and other man. As punishment he has to change his name. He changes his name to Giganti/Gigante.
Relatives of the Giganti line are Montalbano, Lorino, Costa, Alesci, Testa and Vaccaro to name a few.
Please let me know if this sounds familiar to anyone.
Kathleen Gigante
