William and Nancy McNeely Dingess

I have never read that William Dingess divorced Nancy McNeely Dingess. Here is what I have on them:

Purshased of John Brechenridge the survey of 300 acres which covers the present site of Logan
courthouse, and a portion of the farm across the river, moved upon it in 1799 and built a residence. He on one ocassion joined in the pursuit of a band of Indian marauders and followed them as far as the Falls of Guyan, where, killing an Indian, he took off a part of his hide out of which he made a razor strap and kept it during his lifetime. He had no children by his wife, but was the reputed father of a child born to Katie McComas, who was always known as Peter Dingess and was for a long time regarded as the best physician in Logan County.

The first Circuit Court was held at his residence within the present limits of the city of Logan, was on the 7th day of May, 1824 Hon. Lewis Summers presided as judge. The first County Court was held at the same place, but at an earlier date. The first election for the county was held at the home of William Dingess in 1824, and James Bias and Benjamin Smith were elected to the General Assembly.

William and wife, Nancy, lived in a house consisting of four large rooms situated on Stratton Street and directly opposite the present courthouse. The home was used for judicial purposes until a short time previous to the Civil War, when a large log Courthouse was erected on the present courthouse site.
William is listed in the 1815 Cabell Co. Tax List (present day Logan Co.). He is listed as having 1 free white male over 16, 3 slaves, 6 horses,16 cattle.
