Mary Dingle married Samuel Dayton 14 May 1666 Southampton, Suffolk Co. NY . [NAMES OF PERSONS FOR WHOM MARRIAGE LICENSES WERE ISSUED BY THE SECRETARY OF THE PROVINCE OF NEW YORK, PREVIOUS TO 1784]. According to LDS records, this same Mary was born in England circa 1626. She was the second wife of Samuel, and it appears that she may have been married twice before Samuel Dayton [to Thomas Welles and an unknown Dingle].
I am trying to find out more information about Mary Dingle. Was she married to a Dingle or was Dingle her maiden name?. Can anyone identify any early Dingles [prior to 1700, who lived in the Colony/Province of New York, and/or the Colony/Province of Connecticut]? Can the Dingles be traced back to England prior to 1650?
Any information would greatly appreciated.
