Hudgins/Dingler Family in Hood Co., TX

My GGgrandfather was William Allen "Bill" Hudgins (b. 1852 Cherokee Co. TX?, d. 1952) and was married to Mary Elizabeth Dingler (b. 1849 Talladega Co., AL, d. 1918). They were some of the early settlers of the Glen Rose, TX area, particularly Fort Spunky, an Indian trading town that has completely disappeared in the last 60 years or so. We know quite a bit about their descendants--they had 17 children and I'm finding cousins of mine all over the place--but we don't know anything about the Hudgins' before William. We have the Dingler's traced back to Germany in the late 1700's. William had one sister, Larissa, who married Benjamin Franklin Dingler, Mary Elizabeth's brother. William and Larissa's mother MAY have been named Caroline and their father MAY have been named R.L. or F.L. They were in east Texas at the time the kids were born--Cherokee, Smith, maybe Rusk counties? I know that there are several descendants of William and Mary doing research out there--any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kelly
