Margaret Heart was born in Hays, Kansas on September 24, 1959 to Francis John Befort and Darlene Ann (Hammersmith) a farmer and oil field worker.
Heart's endearing giggles and improvisational ability earned her the ability to have a positve outlook on life circumstances. Her character was a deeply joyful blond, never thought of an dumb blond.
Heart values her independence, although she believes, "It's hard for any woman. Women run households, they raise children, and they have to be very, very tough. I always saw myself, mother-working, so "I never grew up thinking that a man would take care of me, ever." She also states the importance of family and states her main goal in life has been to be a good mother. Her marriage to Jerry Heart ended March 3, 1993.
