DINN is not a common name in Newfoundland, and probably most DINNS are related either in Nfld. or before they left Ireland. As such I am interested in any DINN information I can get from Newfoundland ,or if anyone knows anything about their arrival from Ireland, when, from where, etc.
### Specifically in Newfoundland I am most interested in DINN families with native American ancestry from the early to mid 1800's....most likely Mi'Kmaq (MicMac) but could be other native American.

MARY ELLEN DINN, my great-grandmother,and native American descent, married my ggf, Patrick Judge, about 1857,and raised their family at Isle aux Valen,Placentia Bay. Their children all had obvious Indian facial appearance to varying degrees. These children included Peter Judge, born 1856,who later started the current Red Island Judges branch....Joseph Peter Judge(1865),who moved to Corner Brook, and my own grandfather,William Patrick Judge(1870),who married Mary Joseph Pike of Salmonier in 1895,setting up permanent home in Point Verde,Placentia Bay.
That is the Judge side of my mother's family...on the other side,Pikes, William Pike,Anglican, marrued Mary Tremblett,Catholic, probably somewhere between 1842 and 1852.
Their son,John Gilbert Pike, married MARGARET DINN maybe between 1860 to 1870. I do not know the relationship between MARGARET DINN and MARY ELLEN DINN, but I assume my grandparents first met because of these two DINN women.
The children of MARGARET DINN and John Gilbert Pike included my grandmother,Mary Joseph Pike(1872),Elizabeth,Susan,Sarah,Agnes, Rodger, William, and Esther, who died early at age 16.
I especially want to find my two great-grandmothers,MARY ELLEN DINN and MARGARET DINN....and in the case of MARY ELLEN DINN, could somebody possibly tell me about her native heritage? Did MARGARET DINN also have this bloodline or was she a cousin?
I live in Australia, though born in Nfld.,and so cannot wander around Nfld. knocking on doors. Thanks...Ward.
