Yes, he did. He was born on April 9th 1892 at Burgess Hill, sussex. He had four brothers, Alec, Gordon and Cecil and four sisters, Edith, Ethel,Elizabeth and Gladys, but I gather his mother had three husbands. As each husband died she invited a lodger in, and in due course married him (I am quoting my father-in-law's memoirs). Three of his brothers survived the 1914-18 war, and one, who was a regular soldier (9/14 Lancers) was killed in action in 1915. Another uncle (Cecil) was killed in a road traffic accident, riding a motor cycle, near the Victoria Inn, Groombridge, in May 1930 at the age of 32.
