Thanks for the reply. I'm kind of grasping at straws here because I'm not even sure I have the correct family connection. All I know is that my grandmother had a sister who was still alive in 1963 in Eastbourne, Sussex, England. She signs her name as Mrs H. Diplock. Not sure if this was for Hannah or Henry. Grandma did have a sister Hannah.
Going from there I thought perhaps she was the Annie Hannah Hancock that I found marrying a William Henry Diplock in Eastbourne in 1900. Seem to have found them again on the 1901 census still in Eastbourne. Henry was age 21 then.
Would like to find out more after 1901 of course to see if this was my grandmother's sister & if she had family down the line.
I tried to trace the same Henry back in time which is when I found a Henry with father Walter, mother Martha & brother
William on the 1881 census living at Mead St 2 Farm Cottage, Eastbourne. His was age 6 mths.
There seems to be a Minnie Diplock on the 1901 census age 22 & again on the 1881 census age 2 but her parents were shown as Henry & Mary with brothers Charles, George & unknown first name. Also 2 sisters but no first names shown.
So now I'm not sure if we are talking of the same families or even if I have the correct Diplock that married the Hancock girl!!!!!! Boy this genealogy is confusing. If you come across further info I'd appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks again for replying. Good luck with your searches too.
Cheers from Wendy in Canada
