I am not familiar with Brooke Tompkins. However, I do have a lot of notes my great aunt copied from our family bibles. They begin with James Disharoon, Jr. (b. Jan 22, 1779) marrying Sally Fook(e)s (b. Sep 2, 1784) in Dec 22, 1803. From that point on there is a rather complete account of many Disharoons and later Brittinghams. All of these folks are Eastern Shore Maryland families - primarily Salisbury. If this could be of interest let me know. I am trying to take the step back from James Jr. but not having much luck.
