Blair,
I am sure that the Malissa Lynch who married Jesse Clark
must have been the sister of my ggrandmother Mary Lynch
who married William Letchworth Hurst but I can't tell you
a thing about the marriage. I haven't been able to find
any record of their mother Mary Lynch who was said to have
had the maiden name Dishon. I hope to get to Raleigh, NC
this summer to do some research on the Lynchs and Dishons.
Augustine and Lewis Dishon both fought in the American
Revolution and they both wound up in NC after leaving French Acadia which became Nova Scotia when the British
defeated the French in Canada c. 1740. They landed on the
coast of NC rather than going with the majority of Acadians
who moved on the Louisiana and became know as Cajuns.
Augustine and Lewis in the Patriot Index of DAR have their
last name spelled Deshon and it became Dishon later on.
