I have seen some old internet postings that indicate that there were at least two different articles in the no longer published Windber Era Newspaper that name the father of Paul Dishong as Frederick Dishong.

The first was published May 16, 1989 and was apparently an article about the 1889 Johnstown flood. In it, Paul is noted as the son of Frederick Dishong.

The date of publishing for the second article is unknown, but it apparently says "Paul S. Dishong was born in 1796, the son of a Bedford County farmer, Frederick Dishong, whose father, Moses Dishong settled in that part of
Bedford County that became Fulton County in 1850."

I have been searching for years for something in print (newspaper, books, county histories)to connect Paul Dishong who died in Cambria County in 1877 with Frederick Dishong of Bedford County.

Has anybody seen these articles or know where back issues of the Windber Era Newspaper might be available?

I would really appreciate any help connecting the Bedford/Fulton County Dishongs with the Cambria County Dishongs from whom I am descended.

Thank you

Linda Silbaugh
