There are many variations of the surname DeShong. Morris (Moses) Dishong from France who was in CT or PA is on the immigrant records in France as Dishon. Others are listed as Deschamps (pronounced Dish OON) and were from either France (Alsace-Lorraine area, which at one time was taken by the Germans) or from the French territory Acadia (present day Nova Scotia) when it was taken from the French by the British in the 1750s. Spelling variations include DeShongh, DeShong, DeShon (all with or w/o capital S), Dishongh, Dishong, Dishon, Dishion, Dishin, Dishen, Dishun. Hope this helps. Polly Dishon Ashbaugh
