Hello Mr. Peck,

I noted your response on the DiShong name. You mentioned that you are researching the Mellott and Truax families and that they settled first in Philadelphia. I have both families in my ancestry files. In truth they first settled in New Amsterdam. Philippe Antoni du Trieux, the immigrant ancestor of the Truax line came in 1624. Gideon Merlit, the ancestor of the Mellot line came in 1662. The Mellotts moved to New Jersey (first near Perth Amboy and then near Pisacataway) by 1700. From there they eventually branched out to other places including Bedford County, PA in the mid 1700's. the Truax family followed pretty much the same pattern.
