I don't know about the Tinney (Finney, Finley ) end of it...as the Cox is my connection to the Duke's...as stated.
I don't have the 1850 Meri. census-but do have the Index copied to 1840-and Riley Finley was there...as well as Catherine Finley In the t's there is-Isaac Tinney-so if enough stacks up- the Tinney looks like the right spelling.
Riley Finley happens to be my family also-son of Jacob Finley and Catherine Riley of Greene Co Ga and I imagine that is her in 1840-Husband died much earlier. Riley had 5 wives, and I don't know nearly enough about his children.
