Hi Susanna,
I know nothing about the Distin name so cannot offer any help, but I believe my original name was John Distin, born in Gloucester in 1949. I was adopted at around 6 weeks of age & my "new" parents gave me a different name. The only time I ever saw the name in recent years was at Dartmouth, somebody of that name operated a pleasure boat.
My father, I think was from America? & my mother English, that is all I know.
Cheers,
Paul.
