Thanks for responding to my message. Family traditions are fascinating to follow from generation to generation. In the case of Joseph's capture, I haven't independently verified that, nor his service in the British Navy. The family tradition is that he fell in love with one of the daughters of a local Wallingford family, who were compelled to board him and several other Brits during the Revolution.
