Actually my interest is in the Durant family. I have traced my family connections back to 1795 (not as far as you it seems). John Durant was born around 1795 in Ludgvan, Redruth. He married Mary Ann Kemp (or Hemp) in 1828 in Lelant. All of my Durant relations seem to have come from the Devon/Cornwall area. These two had the following children: John Durant (from whom I am related) b. 1831 Lelant, m. Ellen Drew 1853 in Stepney; Elizabeth Ann bp. 20 Aug 1832 Marazion, Thomas bp. 25 Aug 1833 Marazion, Walter bp. 24 Apr 1836 Marazion, Richard Henry bp. 18 Aug 1839 Marazion who died in Plymouth in 1898. I have also traced a cousin John Durant who is related to this Richard Henry Durant. I also found it interesting that your Distin was an iron worker and that he also made brass musical instruments as both me and my sister play the french horn. I don't know if there is a connection, but it seems like it may be possible. Any information that you can provide me with would be great. Many thanks.
