David Ditmars,
How wonderful it is to find so much about my ancestors on GenForum! You have even found the location of the farm belonging to Jan Jansen VanDitmarsen!

In 1997 I asked the genealogist Fred Sisser III ro research my Ditmars ancestors. My grandmother was Ella Nancy Ditmars (b.1899) of Chanute, Neosho County, Kansas. Her birth name was Alvena, but she did not use it.

I am descended from Johannes (Hannis) Ditmars of Hillsborough, NJ. His will of 8 Dec. 1817 leaves $1000 to his son George. George was listed as Yoris in the baptismal records of Sourland Reformed Dutch Church, and baptized on 20 June 1773. Fred Sisser knew that Yoris was a form of George, and was able to make the connection to his birth family. George was one of 6 children of the first wife of Johannes (Marya). I remember the problem I had until I found that there was a second wife, "Margaret Whitenack" or "Magrita".

George has a son, John, who made the move from NJ to Holland, Michigan. From MI, a descendant made the trip down to Neosho County, Kansas.

I have two large volumes written by Mr. Sisser re: the LOTT ancestry of Geertje Lott (wife of Abraham Voohees) and Catarina Lott (wife of Douwe Ditmars)and the SUYDAM ancestry of ALTIE SUYDAM the wife of Dowe Ditmars. Their first son Johannis was bap at the Dutch Church of the Raritan in Somerset County 29 July 1739. I would be happy to share this information with you, for the cost of photocopies, if you should want it. You seem to do so well maybe it is not needed.
