1.WILHELM1 DITMAN was born 1832 in Prussia1, and died Aft. 1880 in possibly Cass County, Iowa.He married MINNIE (DITMAN) Abt. 1859 in Prussia.She was born 1846 in Prussia1, and died Aft. 1880 in probably Cass County, Iowa.

Wilhelm brought his family to America in 1873.(The original spelling used by the family was Ditman.) They settled in the town of Atlantic in Cass County, Iowa.Atlantic, which is located in the far western part of the state, was founded in 1868 as a railroad town.In 1880 Wilhelm and his three of his sons (Henry 20, Albert 16 and August 12) were all employed as laborers. The family lived on Poplar Street in Atlantic, Iowa.Except for August, it is unclear what became of the other members of this Ditman family.Henry, Albert and Herman all appear to have been deceased by 1920.

Notes for AUGUST DITTMAN:
Born in Germany, he came to this country when he was a young boy of about six.He probably received a limited education in Iowa.By the time he was twelve, he joined his father and his two older brothers as a laborer in Atlantic, Iowa.
He met his future wife in Iowa, where they were probably married about the year 1891.The family lived in Iowa somewhere between 15-19 years.Then around 1906-1910 they moved to Pierce County, Nebraska, where they rented a farm.August died accidently in 1912.He was laid to rest in the Osmond City Cemetery.His tombstone gives his birth year as 1865,according to the census records, he was born in 1867.His tombstone lists the year of his death as 1911.According to the obituaries of the Norfolk newspaper, he died in 1912.
Notes for CAROLINE (DITTMAN):
Both of her parents were born in Denmark.Her family moved to Iowa by the 1880's.It was there she met her husband and began her family.
She was a strong woman.After her husband's untimely death in 1912, she continued to raise her family of 10 ranging in ages from 21-1.With the help of her sons she continued to operate the family's rented farm.
Caroline lived to the ripe old age of 96.Her tombstone gives her date of birth year as 1865 and date of death as 1965, which means she would have been 100 years old at the time of her death.The census information suggests she was born in 1869.Either way, she lived an astonshing long time.
She was a grand lady.

The 1910 and 1920 Census for Pierce County, Nebraska suggests Edward's birthyear to be 1895, this is different from the cemetery records which gives his birth year as 1892.
He worked as a farmer.He is buried at Prospect View Cemetery, Pierce County, Nebraska.

Ida Krueger was a twin.She and her sister Ella were born in 1905.Ida's christened named appears to have been Edith.Edith got shortened to Eda, and then became Ida.
Her father's family originated in Hanover, Germany.Her mother's family was Bohemian.
