My husband is the great grandson of William Lego Ditto. His grandfather was Frank W. Ditto and was married to M. Butler of South Carolina. They had one child, Frank W. Ditto, Jr. "Sport" who was bornin 1908. William Lego Ditto was an officer with the Louisiana Calvary during the Civil War. We have a book on his civil war escapes that was written by one of his cohorts. One story of interest is that W. L. Ditto was shot but escaped injury because the bullet hit his buckle and he only received a serious burn. He was captured and sent to Johnson Island, Ohio as a POW. After the war, he became a Louisiana Senator, but moved to Boardman, Florida (which is north of Ocala, Florida) around 1870. We have numerous pictures, ledgers from the old store of in Louisiana and bonds where slaves were put up as collateral.
