No one missed the point, Mary. As for why the protestant/catholic dualism, Jacob (brother of Francis, et al) converted to Catholicism after his marriage to Catherine, a Catholic. Jacob Ditto, born 25 September 1758, died in 1826. He is identified in the Orphan's Court Docket. A bit more is known about Jacob. He married Catherine Finck (born circa 1760) circa 1783, probably in York County. He and his brother Francis were twins. He owned land for a time in northwest Baltimore County, Maryland. His wife Catherine was a Catholic, and he converted to Catholicism after he married her. Jacob and his family moved to Perry County, Ohio, before 1820.
The point is that there are always more pieces to the puzzle, which we don't yet understand. But we piece together puzzles one piece at a time, sometimes changing what we thought was correct. But we don't want to ignore what is in front of us just because there are more pieces to research.
