While it certainly seems likely that our branches of the Ditton family are related, I have not been able to make the connection (although I haven't worked on this line for at least a couple of years). My ggg-grandfater, John Ditton came from Woodchurch, Kent, England in the 1820s. His wife was Bennett King, but I don't know if she came over or died in England earlier. My Dittons came through Pennsylvania and Ohio over several years, finally settling in Lagro, Wabash Co., Indiana by about 1840. My gg-grandfatehr (Charles Ditton) had several siblings: Henry, Obediah, George, James, Mary Ann, Harriet, William, Sarah, and Richard. It would appear that William might have been in New York for a period of time as I have several of his children listed as being born there (William's children that I have are: Benjamin, Edward, Laura, Gabella, Nelson, and Mary Ann). However, I have never completed any primary source verification on William and his children, so I am not at all sure that my information is accurate).
