Dear Martha,
Yes, I do.It stands for Jane.Sophia Jane Martin.
Here is the information on her family.
Parents of Sophia Jane Martin are:
Ferebee Paul and Elijah Martin:
Pauline Angaline Martin, b. in 1845 she married James Holiday Dixon. (They're my g,g,grandparents.)
James Martin: b. 1849, d. 1849
Zacheous Paul Martin: b.1850 married Lavenia Scott, on December 5, 1875 in Pamlico Co., NC.Lavenia Scott, born in 1855.
Note:Lavenia has been seen spelled different ways.Another spelling is Louvenia.
Benjamin Paul Martin, born March 13, 1852 and died on March 13, 1928 in Grantsboro, Pamlico County, NC.He married Caroline Dixon. She is the daughter of John David Dixon and Mary Catherine Paul.
Note:Mary Catherine Paul and Ferebee Paul are sisters.
John David Dixon and James Holiday Dixon are Uncle and nephew.
Mary Ellen Martin, b. August 23, 1857 died on December 15, 1923 she married James Issac Caton born on July 25, 1849 and died May 17, 1889
Mahalia Susan Martin:born in 1860, Arapahoe, NC she died in 1930.She is buried in the Rawls Family Cemetery.
She married first to William H. Price. Second she married to a Dempsey Hooker.
Sophia Jane Martin, married John Nelson Dixon.
Now, there are some who say that John Wiley Dixon was not the father of John Nelson Dixon. However, I know this as fact from an original land deed that is in my personal posession which states such is true.If you would like a copy send me your mailing address and I will mail you a copy of this deed.Sometimes, we gather information from our elderly loved ones and I know from within my own research that they do not always get genealogy facts correct.Time passes and we all forget important details.Right now I can't even remember how to correctly spell my middle name without checking on my birth certificate. It is a name I never use. When we ask those that are elderly we want to take what they say as fact out of love and respect to those memories and persons. However, I feel that documentation in black and white speaks volumes.
The information I shared with you comes from many researchers that have been researching for over 3o years, plus from my own personal research and compilation of documentation and personal knowledge of family bibles that has been shared with those closely related.
I do not just assume that what someone gives me as fact.Martha, I know you are not questioning me.However, I did get an email from a descendant of this family that did because an Uncle could not remember who his grandfather was before he passed on.
I want all that read my post to know that I would not post it unless I truly believed it to be accurate.
I hope I have been helpful.
Love,
Suzy Dixon Bennett
I haven't gotten my new scanner running yet.As soon as I do I'll scan the picture of John Nelson Dixon and Sophia Martin - Dixon for you.
You mail email me directly with your mailing address.
With love and respect for all who research their family heritage and want to perserve it,
May God's Blessings Be Yours Always,
Suzy Dixon Bennett
