Wow I wish I knew about this site when I was doing my family tree in college in 2004...Anyway, my name is Heather Ann Dixon and I am a relative of yours. My Grandfathers name is William D. Dixon and my father's name is Mark Dixon...Williams (Bill)mother was Nora Christine Birece who was married to Thomas Henry Dixon. The son of Thomas Middleton Dixon (from West Hartpool England) and Olive Bush of New Jersey.
The story goes that my great great grandfather on my father's side came to the US around 1890. He was in the British Navy on a sailing ship upon his arrival. The story continues that while the ship was in New York, it sailed away without him to Washington DC. He supposedly went by train to DC to catch-up to the sailaway ship. By the time he arrived there, the ship had already sailed back to England. Since he was a month away from discharge from the Navy he claimed to the British consulate in Washington to request an early discharge and permission to remain in the US and he was granted it. Obviously, because our family is here in the US.
I live in Connecticut, and have my whole life. (I was born in 1983) My grandfather lives in Flordia and we have family in Virginia I think.
Then my grandfather also told me that he (Thomas M. Dixon) moved to upstate New York, moving quite often and finally residing in Stratford CT where he met and Married a woman named Olive Bush who recently moved from New Jersey. Her mother's name was Charlotte Fuscea and Henery Bush was her father's name. They were born in the mid 1850's. I don't have any information where they came from before new Jersey?? Thomas and Olive had three children, in 1910 they gave birth to Thomas Henery Dixon who married Nora Christine Bierce. My great grandparents. (your grandparents)
They had children my grandfather William Douglas Dixon and Thomas Alfred Dixon Who might be your father?
I have much more information. Please contact me and i'll be glad to continue with the family tree. I am soo happy I found this site and hopefully a new family relationship!!
