Hi Darin,
There was a William McQuiller Dixon, father of Dorsey Dixon from Darlington, SC.

The article says Dorsey wrote a poem/song about the Cleveland School fire in Camden, Kershaw Co., SC (not Cleveland,SC). Several Dixons died in the fire and he may have been related.
