Can you provide any rough dates for Francis and others you mentioned? It helps a lot to be able to narrow the time frame as well as the locations.

Also, you mentioned that Francis may have been an outlaw. Since so many of those whose surname is Doan instead of Doane are descended from the "Doan Outlaws" of Bucks County, it is common for family tradition to mention the word without knowing any of the details. Do you have any details about how that term came to be associated with Francis?
