It appears that Cecil did not freeze to death, it was October. There was an interesting article that appeared in the Gladwin County Record one week after his obituary. I have inserted it below also.
Published Gladwin County Record - THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27, 1932 P1 C5:
Cecil Doane, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Doane of Sheridan township, died Sunday at West Branch hospital after an illness of nearly three weeks. Cecil Doane was born April 15, 1915, in Sheridan township, where he has lived nearly all his life. When taken sick he was working in Secord township. Funeral services were held at the Free Methodist church at Edwards Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 2 p. m., followed by burial in Edwards cemetery. He is survived by his parents, five brothers and four sisters. He was the fourth child in the family.

The sheriff and prosecuting attorney's office, assisted by Sgt. O. H. Knox of the state police, are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Cecil Doan, son of Joseph Doan, of Sheridan township.
