My name is Harla Frank, and I am a graduate student in Psychology at Florida State University. This is the 100th anniversary of our Psychology Department and as part of our celebration, we are creating a web site to honor the early members of our faculty that were so instrumental in making our department what it is today. One of these early faculty members was Effie DOANE Pettit. She taught at Florida State University in the 1930's. At that time, the university was called The Florida State College for Women.
We have very little information on her. We believe she lived in Atlanta briefly before she died. The permanent address listed for her is frequently Waldo, Florida. Our university is in Tallahassee, Florida.
We thought that DOANE might be her maiden name, so I thought we should at least inquire on the Doane Web Page of GenForum. If anyone has any information on this woman, please let me know. We would very much like to include some information about her life and her career before and after she was at Florida State. Any information would be very much appreciated. We would like to recognize contributors on our "Acknowledgements" page that will be a part of our new web site.
Thank you for your help,
Harla J. Frank
