Daniel Doane is supposed to have first married Constance Snow, daughter of Constance Hopkins. However, there is no known documentation that she existed. Apparently, a long-time county clerk noted that Daniel Doane's first wife was the daughter of Constance, named after her mother. He did not cite a source. Normally, he cited sources only if they were verbal sources. So, it is assumed that he saw documentation somewhere. However, no one else seems to be able to find documentation and the Mayflower Society does not accept the line from Daniel Doane's first wife.
