Sarah Doane and Josiah Sheldon

My greatgrandfather, James R. Sheldon, was born about 1832 in Potsdam, NY. On census reports he listed both his parents were born in Vermont. In a 1838 city census of Potsdam there is listed a Josiah Sheldon with 5 family members. A Josiah Sheldon died in Potsdam in 1843. From a Doane family tree, they list Sarah Doane born in VT and married to Josiah Sheldon as being born in 1796 and died in Potsdam, NY. James R. named his son (my grandfather) John Josiah Sheldon. All the circumstances point to Josiah Sheldon and Sarah Doane being the parents of James R. Sheldon. I have all kinds of documents of James R. but none of them give the names of his parents. Would appreciate if anyone has any information on the children of Josiah and Sarah.
