"Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Doane announce the marriage of their daughter Essie Eleanor to Mr. Elmer William Hickman on Friday, June the second, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, Oakland, California."
An invitation to this wedding was found in a scrapbook belonging to my husband's great aunt, Isabel R. Silverman of Oakland, CA. She attended the Oakland Technical High School, class of 1916. Although Essie's name does not appear on either the 1915 or 1916 list of graduates, perhap they knew each other in school.
