Hi Joyce, your mention of your ancestor Martin Dobberstein seemed familiar, so I looked it up in my "Dobberstein Registry," and sure enough he is listed as immigrant and head of family who came to Quebec, Canada in 1863. Although I don't have any recognizable information on Diane's ancestors, Joseph and Juliane Dobberstein, I do show Martin (1827-1880) as father of Julius (b.1855), August (b.1857), Anna (b.1864), Frank (b.1866), with further descendancy information on August's offspring.
I think that's interesting about Martin coming over on the same ship as the other Dobbersteins. Were you able to discuss this further with Diane to try to establish a possible relationship? Can you also let me know how you are related in the Dobberstein line? I would certainly be interested in exchanging information with you or sharing it here for other interested relatives. Thanks.
