In doing research on my husband's family I came scross an old family tree put together by a gret-uncle. In it he listed a connection to a Dobberstein family from Rosenfelde, Germany. My husband's G G grandmother was named Rose/Rosa Dobberstein Bloechlinger. She was born 4 NOV 1844 in Germany. Her mother was Veronika (Kubatsky - ?sp) Dobberstein. Veronika was born 18 April 1812 in or near Rosenfelde.
I have also located ships records which show a Pauline Dobberstein emigrating from Germany to NYC in 1871 at the age of 21 from Rosenfelde which would put her DOB circa 1849-1850. From our family records we are aware that Rose had a sister named Pauline (a total of 8 children) so it very possible that the Pauline from the records was actually Rose's sister.
Veronika's other children (Rose's siblings) in the family were: Pauline, Albert, August, John/Johan, Cecilia (who married into a family named Stelter), William/Wilhelm, and infant who died young.
I am unable to locate any information regarding Rose's father other than he was German and named Dobberstein. Any more information on any of the above would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps there is information on this branch of the family in Rosenfelde in the book mentioned earlier in this thread ?
