Hello there Elizabeth
I was delighted to hear from you and maybe at last have some links with my paternal Grandfather Albert Dobbs. Unfortunately my dear father died in 1991. my mother's memories of the Dobbs family are not good, but she does recall that like my father Albert was a crane diver (she thinks) and travelled the world with his job. She has gifts from many parts of the world that he briught home. I know from my mother that he spent many years in India working.
Albert and Ellen his wife lived in may parts of the country. they wre married in Aston Birmingham in 1905, had Daughter lillian May in 1906 in Swansea, Wales.Their son Albert Arthur Thomas was born in 1911 in Dunfermeline Scotland, as was my father George Henry Dobbs in 1916. They lived for a time in Middlesborough, and London where Albert was involved with the restion of the new Cyrstal Palace that could have been while they wre living at Kew (if indeed it is the same Albert) Albert than moved to Dartford Kent where both my father and albert worked on building the Dartford crossing. It was there he died in April 1954 at Stone Kent. his tombstone says in his 70th year. my cousin thinks he was born on 15th April and that would appear to make his year fo birth 1884. I can find no entry of his birth in the record offices at London Though. My grandmother |(Ellen) died in Stone in 1960.
I have photo's of Albert in 1926 and in his latter life I wonder if any you have might sow a likeness.
I would love to see your family tree in depth and can sent you mine. I really think there is a very strong possibility that we could be linked.
I would love to hear from you again. My second name is Elizabeth, which is supposed to be after my Grandmother Ellen Elizabeth but it may come from further back than that?
Best wishes Sue Haylett
