Cathy, this is a completely different Jesse Dobbs. This one married Lucretia Jones on September 27th, 1895. She died May 14, 1896 & is buried in Lake Cemetery near Lamar, MO.
Prior to meeting Jesse, Lucretia had another son with a gentleman named Mammon, who allegedly had a heart attack & died before they could be married. Jesse & Lucretia (aka Creecy) had one child, born May 1, 1895 in Lamar, MO.
Jesse is my great-grandfather. His son Glenn is my grandfather. Hard as it is for me to comprehend, my grandmother knew little or nothing about her husband's family.
Jesse is listed in the 1905 Webb City, MO city directory as living alone. His son Glenn was living at another address.
According to a Webb City Register newspaper articIe, Jesse died February 6th, 1909 in Goodman, MO & his body was being brought back to Webb City & then I lose him.The newspaper stated that he was "about" 36 years old, so he would have been born around 1873. He is not listed as being buried in the Lake Cemetery where Creecy is buried.
Thanks to a connection I made on the internet, I now know a lot about her family. Prior to that, I didn't even know her name. But sadly, I have no clue as to where Jesse came from or anything about his family. There are quite a few Dobbs in the SW corner of MO, I just can't connect Jesse with any of them & I go there once a year & haunt libraries, court houses & troop through cemeteries. If by any stretch of the imagination, my Jesse is lurking about in your line, I'd appreciate any information. Thanks!
