My name is Peggy Kuykendall Chisholm.Lennie Dawn Dockery was my grand mother by adoption. She was a sweet, caring, and a beautifully striking woman--I have many pics of her and Wilbur--a beautiful couple.
Lennie Dawn Dockery married Wilbur Kuykendall, while living in Morgantown, Kentucky around 1911(?).Lennie (actually my great aunt) became my grandmother as a result of my father being adopted by Lennie and Wilbur. They had no natural birth children of their own.
My father (George William Kuykendall) was born in Feb 1925 to George William Fulton and Vida Dockery, living in Louisville at the time.Vida died a few months after my father's birth.
Meanwhile Lennie and Wilbur had moved to Frankfort (c1923) from the Morgantown area, and soon adopted my father (George William) in late 1925, and changed his surname from Fulton to Kuykendall.
I (Peggy) was born in Nov 1947 to George William (Fulton)Kuykendall and Violette Slattery of Franklin Co. in Frankfort.I was the only child (other than a stillborn sister in 1968).
I married James L. Chisholm, born 1940 in Henry County, Kentucky. We have two children:David Lawrence Chisholm, born 10-19-1969; and Daniel William Chisholm, born 12-21-1974.
David married Heidi Koontz of Frederick, Maryland. They have two children:Reilly Eilis Chisholm, born November 17, 1999; Brittany Mae Chisholm, born August 5, 2004.
I would love to find more information on Wilbur Kuykendall and his father.
The information I have indicates his father's name was John A Kuykendall, that he operated a drug store in LaCenter, Kentucky.I don't know his date of birth or death.I do have a picture of him identified by Lennie. Also, I have a picture showing "Wilbur and Raymond, 1919, LaCenter)".I am sure Raymond was his brother.
I have a seven pagre family tree of the Dockerys, put together by Lennie in 1942.It covers from 1700s to 1942.
