This is the same Matthew M. Dockery who is my wife's ancestor.

Please be aware that there were two Matthew Dockerys, a father, Matthew M. and a son, Matthew. Matthew M. was born in 1776 in North Carolina where he married Rachel Webb on Oct 22, 1801. Sometime after 1805 he moved his family to Madison County Alabama. The son Matthew is born in 1814.

Matthew M. moved his family from Alabama to Illinois in teh 1820's, I suspect the sequence of events was that he entered a land lottery or received an award for service to the government while still in Alabama and received a tract in Illinois. He then moved and found the land not to his liking and petitioned Congress to exchange it. He bought and sold some land as well.

By 1840 they are found in Caddo Parish, LA. The son, Matthew marries Sarah Stott there and is next found in Texas.

None of the surnames you mentioned are found in my records, however, I will continue to look for any mention of them in other papers and books.
