John Dockery of Surry Co NC, Henry Co VA and Burke CO NC

Hi Dockery researchers,
I just got back from VA and Surry Co NC. While at the court house in Surry Co NC, I came across a deed for John Dockery to David MAY dated August 1, 1798. John Dockery of BURKE CO NC to David May of Surry Co NC. John Dockery sold his land in Surry Co Nc on the VA line, Stewarts Creek. The wits. were: Joseph Stewart and David Turney, Joseph Stewart recorded the deed in August 1798.
Joseph Stewart was my GGGGgreat grandfather and David May was his brother law. I believe these Dockery may have also moved to nearby Buncombe, Macoon and Cherokee Co NC as some of my Stewarts also did. John Dockery is also found in deeds with Cornelius KEITH of Henry Co VA and Surry Co NC. Could this John Dockery be the same one living in Brunswick Co VA 1730īs (now Mecklenburg Co VA), and moving with the Keiths to nearby Granville/Johnston Co NC. ? Appreciate any ideas.
