It has not been proven who the parents were of my James William Dockery Sr. b. 1768, but some researchers suggest it might be the old William who died and left a will in Wake Co. NC in May 1793. I think the Matthew Dockery that you refer to is a descendant of Alfred Dockery of the eastern part of NC around Anson Co. I don't think we are related to that group of Dockery's, but I would be curious if this is the area of NC where your research is concentrated. If memory serves me right, the first place that our Dockery's are located is in Burke Co. NC, then on to Buncombe Co. NC and finally to Cherokee Co. NC. Of course the children of James Wm. Sr are spread from NC to California. Thanks for your inquiry.
